Nation’s Restaurant News Names Rusty Bucket Restaurant and Tavern to List of 2014 “Breakout Brands”

Rusty Bucket Restaurant and Tavern, the 15-unit neighborhood American restaurant and tavern founded in Columbus, Ohio, in 2002, has been honored as one of 10 “Breakout Brands” of 2014 by leading restaurant industry trade publication Nation’s Restaurant News. Published in the Monday, February 24, issue and compiled by the magazine’s top editors, the second annual “Breakout Brands” list showcases hot emerging concepts that are generating excitement within the industry among guests, operators and investors.

“Our entire team and I were incredibly honored to receive this notable accolade,” said Gary Callicoat, president of Rusty Bucket Restaurant and Tavern. “Through the years, we have worked diligently to create a brand and a true neighborhood spot that serves great comfort food and resonates with our variety of guests, including families, adults and sports fans alike. We have developed the perfect combination and are excited to expand into new markets across the Midwest and the country, including Naples, Fla., this spring.”

Citing Rusty Bucket’s “aggressive but methodical growth plans” to open 50 new units during the next five years, Nation’s Restaurant News described the goals as realistic due to the brand’s focus on improving service and menu options during the recession instead of expanding into new locations. Rusty Bucket was also lauded for its distinctive beverage program, which offers more than 80 beers, including 24 on tap, served by bartenders who have all been trained and certified through BarSmarts and an extensive Rusty Bucket beverage training program.

Weaving together a family-friendly environment serving made-from-scratch comfort foods along with a casual sports influence, the Rusty Bucket Restaurant and Tavern is praised for positioning itself as a destination for a variety of occasions. Nation’s Restaurant News touted that each of the 15 locations has a robust lunch business and is viewed as a strong family and neighborhood-centric restaurant, a prime spot to view large sporting events and an ideal location for late-night dinners with friends.
