The annual Bucket Run Ride for Charity (Poker Run) is a charity ride to raise money for Kinder Key of Nationwide Children's Hospital, New Albany Police Foundation, and Rusty Bucket ProStart Scholarship Fund. Bucket Run History: The Rusty Bucket Restaurant and Tavern Annual Bucket Run was founded in 2011 by Gary Callicoat, Rusty Bucket’s President and Founder. A motorcycle enthusiast and rider himself, Callicoat dreamt of the Bucket Run as a way that Rusty Bucket could team up with the community to support local charities. The Inaugural Bucket Run was in August 2011 and 69 bikes rode in the poker run to area Rusty Bucket locations and ended with a rally at A.D. Farrow Co. Harley Davidson. Over $1400 was raised for our first beneficiary, a young man named PJ Bennett, son of Sunbury’s Chief of Police Pat Bennett, who was diagnosed with a rare form of childhood cancer, Ewing’s Sarcoma. PJ received aggressive treatment locally and in Washington, D.C. Money raised helped cover travel costs for his treatment. The 2nd Annual Bucket Run in August 2012 was another success with over 100 people joining us for the event. The event raised over $4000 for the Rusty Bucket ProStart Scholarship Fund and for Mifflin Township Division of Fire Lt. Anthony Torres. On March 21, 2012 while off duty, Mifflin Township Division of Fire Lt. Anthony Torres was involved in a motorcycle accident causing significant injuries to his lower left leg. On March 29, 2012, Anthony went through a procedure resulting in the use of a prosthetic leg. Anthony returned to work as the first full-duty amputee firefighter in the state of Ohio. In 2013, the Bucket Run grew to a much larger event by adding a family fun fest element after the ride. The day began with the annual poker run ride from A.D. Farrow Co. Shop at Northstar to several Rusty Bucket locations and ending at Market Square in New Albany. The Family Fun Fest took place at Market Square including music, food, beverages, family activities, area mascots and more! The 3rd Annual Bucket Run raised over $9,900 for Kinder Key of Nationwide Children's Hospital, New Albany Police Foundation, and Rusty Bucket ProStart Scholarship Fund.
